Brandon’s brother and Michelle’s youngest son, Nick, is a 19-year-old, recovering addict who has experienced first-hand the many facets of drug addiction. He started off like most people do with the lower-level drugs, but soon moved onto the more serious, life‑threatening substances, such as cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl. Nick has not only spent time in treatment centers but found himself on the Lower Eastside on many occasions doing whatever it took to fulfill his need for a fix.
Nick attended many different treatment programs and eventually, through perseverance and hard work, he was able to find one that worked and has been clean and sober now for 6 months. Nick has incredible insight into this epidemic and his eventual road to recovery.
Nick and his mother, Michelle, through the Brandon Jansen Foundation, travel to the communities of BC reaching out, sharing their story, and offering help to the growing needs of others who find themselves in the same situation as Nick once found himself.
